Tatting was one of these laces. Over the past several years I have produced many different types of designs in tatting. Crosses are my constant favorite type of tatted pieces to produce, but I have made many doilies, butterflies, hearts, baby bonnets, baby booties, wedding garters, bracelets and earrings, as well as many other designs. I am currently taking my tatting into a new medium, by tatting in silver and 14k gold-filled wire. There are many people worldwide that have attempted to tat in wire with limited success. By developing some new techniques for working in metal I have successfully created a new form of tatting that is worked in fine silver wire, combining the beauty of tatted lace and the shine of silver. People have been amazed at how delicate the finished product is and that the finished product still feels like a fabric art.
Since beginning my work with wire, I have expanded into new fields, my work now includes wire wrapping, where I focus on taking antique cameos, bar pins, etc. and rework them to bring their beauty into the 21rst century. I have also been expanding my work to include Viking Knit (Viking Age – nålebinding), Kumihimo, an ancient Japanese braiding art, and wire weaving which reflects a one of a kind Celtic look.
